Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Answer product questions and make suggestions throughout the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of department products to respond to inquiries.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of dairy specials and provide fresh products ordered.
• Recommend dairy items to ensure customers receive desired products.
• Check product quality and review “sell by” dates, taking appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations; maintain proper case and cooler temperatures and temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs, comply with procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks, illegal activity, robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non‑confrontational, cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Retail experience.
• Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
