D10 Remote Pilot Operator

About the role

This full‑time, remote position is for a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) on the SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team supporting the Dallas‑Fort Worth TRACON (D10) in Dallas, TX. The RPO acts as the pilot and other controllers in FAA air‑traffic‑controller training simulators, working with a simulated radar display and voice communication system during medium‑ and high‑fidelity training exercises.

Responsibilities

• Play the role of the pilot (and other controllers) in the ATC training simulator.
• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to emulate pilot actions and communications.
• Receive voice commands from student controllers and input appropriate entries into the automated system.
• Translate displayed information into correct ATC terminology.
• Respond to students via the Voice Communication System (VCS) using proper phraseology.
• Complete required certifications: a classroom test on airspace and procedures, and a lab performance as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, manuals, and related materials.
• Clear spoken communication that can be easily understood.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team (multimedia developers, quality assurance, instruction system designers, subject‑matter experts, instructors).
• Experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs (strongly desired, not required).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of FAA Order JO 7110.65 (strongly desired, not required).
• Team‑building abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
• Familiarity with current technology tools such as tablets, notebooks, and applications.
• Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.
