Cytotechnologist

About the role

Provides technical cytology services including the recognition and accurate reporting of pre-malignant and malignant processes from any anatomic site (gynecologic, non-gynecologic, hematopoietic, soft tissue, etc.). Provides biopsy adequacy assessments, working closely with Radiology. Assists as needed with transportation of specimens, and cytology registration and processing as well as any other duties as needed within the department.

Responsibilities

• Recognize and accurately report pre-malignant and malignant processes from various anatomical sites.
• Perform biopsy adequacy assessments, collaborating with Radiology.
• Assist with specimen transportation and cytology registration and processing.
• Provide services to patients of all age groups, including premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle, and older adults.

Requirements

• 2 years previous on the job experience in cytology desirable.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with the ability to follow written & verbal instructions without constant supervision.
• Must meet the physical requirements of this job.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Must be able to work well in a team.
• Follows customer service policies in alignment with hospital mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

• Current CA Cytotechnology license.
• ASCP Certification as a Cytotechnologist required.
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1-2 years previous experience desirable, but not required.
