Cytologist - Laboratory - PRN

Role: Performs cytology specimen preparation, staining, and microscopic evaluation to detect cancer, abnormalities, and pathological conditions. Responsibilities: Prepares and stains slides, operates laboratory equipment, and assists with fine needle aspirations. Examines cells for normal or abnormal patterns, marking unusual findings for review. Records classification, manages daily lab operations, and ensures quality control following regulatory standards. Performs maintenance, troubleshoots issues, and orders supplies. Participates in continuing education and staff training. Supports lab accreditation and compliance efforts, adhering to safety and infection control protocols. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent; 1-2 years of experience required, with 2-3 years preferred in high complexity testing. Must hold or be eligible for Cytotechnologist (ASCP) certification and maintain current membership.
