Cytogenetics Analyst - US Remote

About the role
Labcorp is seeking a US remote-based Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team. This position is fully remote, based in the US.
Responsibilities
- Perform analysis of chromosomes, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens, primarily focusing on constitutional blood cases with potential prenatal cases.
- Analyze chromosomes for count, structural abnormality, and morphology from computer-acquired images of metaphases according to appropriate SOPs.
- Prepare preliminary reports by arranging (karyotyping) chromosome pairs in their proper numerical sequence for director interpretation.
- Enter analysis information into appropriate computer systems for director review.
- Check karyotypes according to departmental and group procedures and protocols prior to director review.
- Ensure chromosomes are placed and oriented properly.
- Verify patient demographic information and that karyotypes match written diagnoses.
- Ensure karyotypes are appropriate for director review based on the test ordered and result.
- Remotely transfer electronic images to and from satellite reading labs for analysis.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory and computer equipment in the designated area.
- Participate in proficiency testing as required and maintain records demonstrating proficiency samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- Attend all required meetings and represent the laboratory in a professional manner.
- Participate in required continuing education activities.
- Comply with company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
- 2+ years of experience working in a Cytogenetics clinical laboratory.
- 1+ years of experience performing karyotyping.
- 1+ years of experience performing constitutional cytogenetics analysis.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience with prenatal analysis (preferred).
- 1+ years of experience with Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI) software (preferred).
- ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG) (preferred).
- Previous experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Internet, email, text messaging, chat applications, and Microsoft Office.
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), active listening, and ability to provide balanced feedback.
- Strong patient focus.
- Ability to effectively manage time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Work From Home Requirements

- Wired or wireless internet with a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec.
- Ability to work remotely effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with competing priorities and demands.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (candidate's local time zone).
Pay
$25.00 - $40.00 per hour. All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
