Cylinder Evaluator

Essential Duties

  • Operate material handling equipment to move components and skid as required.
  • Gather all parts of the cylinder to be inspected.
  • Review drawings and job standard folder, if attached and/or applicable.
  • Measure all components using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Determine the best and most cost-effective way to repair a cylinder(s).
  • Create B.O.M. for all items needed to repair cylinder.
  • Verify that all components are clearly marked with job number and place on pallet and put in review area.

Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of how seals hold pressure and able to assemble cylinders, dry test, and check dimensions
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and/or pneumatic cylinders and components is a plus.
  • Mechanically inclined

  • Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
