Cybersecurity System Security Engineer (CSSE) II-Management

About the role

The System Security Engineer supports Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and/or Special Access Program (SAP) activities within Special Access Programs Facilities (SAPFs) and SCIFs. They are responsible for maintaining the Information Assurance (IA) posture for programs and systems, conducting reviews to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses, and ensuring all security features are implemented and functional.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities
• Support RMF Cybersecurity Specialist
• Maintain and update RMF Security Control Families
• Conduct reviews to maintain appropriate IA posture
• Monitor and resolve POA&Ms to mitigate system vulnerabilities
• Draft and maintain security documentation
• Develop and provide IA risk management recommendations
• Represent the Government Program Manager in SSE related meetings

Requirements

• Minimum 6-8 years total experience, including 4 years in SCI or SAP environment
• Minimum 2 years of SAP relevant experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience (4 years)
• Current Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
• DoD Directive 8570.01-M certifications within 6 months of hire

Qualifications

• Familiarity with security policies, manuals, and guiding documents
• Experience with RMF and JSIG processes for system accreditation
• Ability to travel within AOR (could be extensive)

Skills

• Knowledge of NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 controls
• Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF)
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, and customers
