About the Role
The Office of Cyber Security is looking for a highly motivated Cyber Security Specialist to assist in complex cyber security duties. This position will be part of a group of top-notch security professionals that research, deploy, and support security solutions across the state's network and protect the state's sensitive data. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced security technologies available, including next-generation firewalls, web application firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, load balancers, network access controls, data loss prevention tools, system incident and event management tools, and more.
Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Responsibilities
- Configure and manage routers and next-generation firewalls, including Cisco firewalls.
- Work with various routing protocols and engineer/support complex network architectures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including routing and packet diagnostics.
- Implement and manage security technologies and best practices.
- Leverage knowledge of cloud technologies, next-generation firewalls, and load balancing.
- Assist with micro-segmentation projects and apply zero trust architecture (ZTA) principles.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting and learning independently.
- Recognize security intrusions and take appropriate actions.
- Analyze and correlate data, noticing patterns and discrepancies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or associate degree related to Computer Information Systems and multi-functional IT experience, including intermediate experience with State of Missouri IT-related services (or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Next-Gen Firewalls (NGFW) and networking skills, including TCP/IP.
- Deep knowledge of zero trust architecture (ZTA) principles and deployment models.
- Strong knowledge of multiple security appliances and the NIST 800-53 security framework.
- Familiarity with next-generation firewall concepts and various security technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of the state’s networking environment.
