Cybersecurity Risk Management Subject Matter Expert - Active TS/SCI Clearance Required

Akima Systems Engineering is seeking a Cybersecurity Risk Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support national security missions in Honolulu, HI. The role provides comprehensive expertise throughout the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) policy DoDI 8510.01, offering strategic risk-mitigation recommendations to the J6 during the security lifecycle of all Authorizations within the USINDOPACOM Approving Official’s (AO) DoDIN Area of Responsibility (DAO).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support current and future authorizations, including Memorandums of Agreement (MOA), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Interconnection Security Agreements (ISA), Partner Nation Connections, and submissions to the Defense Security/Cybersecurity Authorization Working Group (DSAWG).
  • Assist with Authority to Connect (ATC) and Authority to Operate (ATO) requests.
  • Support security categorization, selection of security controls, and provide guidance to the RMF team lead.
  • Actively participate in the validation and compliance assessments of Cybersecurity controls for systems requesting authorization or reauthorization.
  • Coordinate with system owners to assess and validate Cybersecurity controls, assist System User Representatives (SURs) in updating security documentation, and ensure the Authorization Official Designated Representative (AO-DR) receives completed Security Authorization Packages (SAP) for assessment.
  • Maintain and update relevant systems databases and provide monthly status reports detailing performance, deliverables, and outstanding tasks.
  • Integrate automated toolset results with security assessment submissions (e.g., Security Assessment Plans, Security Assessment Reports, Risk Assessment Reports).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook).

Requirements

  • Active TS clearance and SCI eligibility.
  • Must meet advanced personnel certification per DoDM 8140.03.
  • Must possess ONE of the following IAM-III certifications:
    • CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
    • CISSP (or Associate)
    • GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership Certification)
    • CCISO (Certified Chief Information Security Officer)
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing, developing, or preparing RMF A&A for DoD systems.
  • Experience validating Cybersecurity controls for A&A of DoD systems.
  • Experience with all phases of A&A in the RMF process.
  • Experience with automated C&A and A&A toolsets (e.g., Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS)).

Pay

$152,000 - $169,000 per year.
