The Non-Kinetic Effects Business Area, part of the Defense Sector at Leidos, currently has an opening for a cleared Cybersecurity Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to work in Beavercreek, OH, near Wright Patterson AFB. This role supports the Air Force Research Lab, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, and other DoD missions through software design, hardware interfacing, laboratory experimentation, and testing to deploy cutting-edge solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, assess, and mature cybersecurity solutions across mission systems, software/hardware designs, lab environments, and operational test configurations.
  • Translate cybersecurity requirements, NIST SP 800-53 controls, RMF objectives, and mission needs into implementable technical designs and verification methods.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture artifacts, including security design descriptions, network diagrams, and system hardening approaches.
  • Support cybersecurity design decisions for tactical networking environments, including boundary protection, segmentation, and encryption.
  • Partner with engineering teams to implement secure configurations, authentication, logging, encryption, and vulnerability mitigations.
  • Perform technical security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation plans.
  • Lead vulnerability management activities, including interpreting scan results and coordinating fixes.
  • Support RMF authorization activities by documenting security controls and providing evidence.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk reviews, and test readiness events.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align cybersecurity implementation with program objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement of cybersecurity engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, cybersecurity, or related field with 4+ years of experience (or 8+ years of experience in lieu of degree).
  • US Citizen with active DoD Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Security+ 8570 certification.
  • Experience in a Software Integration Laboratory environment.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, bash scripting, and security configurations.
  • Well-versed in NIST SP 800-53A security controls and risk assessments.
  • Experience with vulnerability scans using Tenable Nessus, SCAP, or similar tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and multitask in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban) and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with Splunk, Tenable Nessus, and SCAP applications.
  • Background in airborne, tactical networking, or C2/C4ISR environments.
  • Familiarity with DoD cryptographic protection concepts.

Pay

Pay Range: $87,100.00 - $157,450.00. The Leidos pay range is a general guideline, with additional factors considered in extending an offer.
