Cybersecurity Engineer III position supporting a critical Department of Defense program at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC). This role focuses on Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities, cybersecurity compliance, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation efforts for mission-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Support Assessment & Authorization (A&A) efforts in accordance with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Develop, maintain, and update accreditation documentation including:
- System Security Plans (SSPs)
- Security Assessment Plans (SAPs)
- Security Assessment Reports (SARs)
- Plans of Actions & Milestones (POA&Ms)
- Perform security control implementation, testing, validation, and compliance reviews.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, security audits, and risk analyses.
- Manage and update eMASS packages throughout the accreditation lifecycle.
- Support continuous monitoring activities including:
- Quarterly IV&V reviews
- STIG compliance assessments
- Annual Security Reviews (ASRs)
- Monthly POA&M updates
- Assist with ATO, ATC, IATT, and related authorization processes.
- Maintain DISA circuit connection documentation and inherited security controls.
- Perform incident triage and cybersecurity monitoring activities.
- Identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with system owners, engineers, security teams, and government stakeholders to ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
Requirements
- Active Secret Clearance
- IAT III Certification (CASP+, CISSP, CISA, CCNP Security, GCED, or GCIH)
Preferred Qualifications
- CISSP Certification
- Previous experience supporting NIWC, NAVWAR, Navy, DoD, or Federal cybersecurity programs
- ISSO, ISSE, RMF Analyst, A&A Analyst, or Security Compliance background
- Experience supporting classified systems and accreditation efforts
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity monitoring and incident response processes
Pay
$67-$72/hr
Schedule
6-Month Contract-to-Hire, 100% Onsite (San Diego, CA)
