Cybersecurity Engineer

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Research, design, and implement cybersecurity solutions for organization systems and products that comply with all applicable security policies and standards.
- Work with IT/OT and internal and external business partners to ensure that security is factored in the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration process of hardware and software.
- Analyze and make recommendations to improve network, system and application architectures.
- Examine network, server, and application logs to determine trends and identify security incidents.
- Evaluate an organization's computer networks, applications and data systems for vulnerabilities.
- Monitor networks for security breaches, violations, or other related issues and develop solutions to defend against such issues.
- Assists in the review and update of cyber security policies, architectures and standards.
- Affords assistance in responding to audits, penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
- Researches the latest trends in IT and security.
- Provides strategic risk guidance for IT projects including the evaluation and recommendation of technical controls.
- Develops, maintains and publishes up-to-date information security policies, standards and guidelines.
- Oversees the approval, training, and dissemination of security policies and practices.
- Manages security incidents and events to protect assets including intellectual property, regulated data and the company's reputation.
- Maintains awareness of the external threat environment for emerging threats and advises relevant stakeholders on the appropriate courses of action.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
- Jr. Level: 2 - 4 years experience with a minimum IAT lvl 2 compliant certification (Security+, etc.)
- Mid. Level: 4 - 7 years experience with a minimum IAT lvl 3 or IAM lvl 2 compliant certification (CISSP, CISA, GCIH, etc.)
- Sr. Level: 7+ years experience with a minimum IAM lvl 2 compliant certification (CISM, CISSP, etc.)
Skills and Experience
- Experience with Cybersecurity tools such as ACAS/Nessus, RedSeal, Trellix Endpoint Security (formerly HBSS), Splunk, SCAP Compliance Checker, etc.
- Experience with Linux, Windows, and Networking
- Working knowledge of STIGs
- Experience with NIST SP 800 series
