Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and threats
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation efforts
- Help manage security tools (e.g., SIEM, MXDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Analyze security logs and alerts to identify suspicious activity
- Assist with incident response, investigation, and root cause analysis
- Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures
- Support security awareness training for employees
- Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and engineering teams to improve overall security posture
Requirements
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security
- Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, and security principles
- Experience with security tools and technologies (SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners, etc.)
- Knowledge of common attack vectors and mitigation techniques
- Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, CISM, or GIAC certifications
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
- Experience with incident response and digital forensics
- Knowledge of zero-trust architecture and DevSecOps practices

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations.
- Work will normally be performed in an office and laboratory environment and around technical equipment including computers and lasers.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, lift and carry up to 40 pounds without assistance.
- Able to efficiently use automated office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and printers; able to effectively engage in communications (via phone, computer, or in-person).
