About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cyber Security Specialist - Application Security to join our Global Information Security team. This role is pivotal in safeguarding our organization’s global applications, APIs, and AI-enabled solutions by implementing robust security measures throughout the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with application development, DevOps, product teams, and security professionals to embed security best practices into development processes. A key focus will be on securing AI-powered applications, large language models, and AI services, ensuring that emerging AI technologies are integrated securely. This position offers flexibility with a remote work option and is based out of Atlanta, GA. Reporting directly to the Manager of IT Cyber Security, the role requires a dedicated professional capable of managing multiple security platforms, assessing vulnerabilities, and driving continuous improvement in our application security posture.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an application security role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of secure development practices and common vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10, CWE).
  • Hands-on experience with application and API security testing tools such as GitHub Advanced Security, Wiz Code, Checkmarx, Snyk, Invicti, Acunetix, Burp Suite, Harness, and Salt Security.
  • Familiarity with web technologies, APIs, and modern application architectures.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or similar.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks including NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
  • Relevant certifications such as GIAC WEB, ISC2 CSSLP, Security+, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Understanding of cloud-native source code security practices (Code-to-Cloud).
  • Exposure to AI technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, large language models (LLMs), and AI-powered services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor various security platforms (DAST, SAST, SCA, Secret Scanning, API Security, Cloud Security) to identify and prioritize security risks, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations in applications and APIs.
  • Notify relevant technical and business teams of identified risks and track remediation efforts to ensure timely resolution.
  • Administer and maintain application and API security tools, including onboarding assets, configuring assessments, managing connectors, and controlling user access.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and metrics to communicate security risks, progress, and trends to leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Partner with application development and DevOps teams to enhance the security posture of applications and APIs, reducing organizational risk.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in application and cloud security.
  • Integrate security controls and testing tools into CI/CD pipelines, SDLCs, and development workflows to promote secure coding practices.
  • Assess and mitigate external exposure of applications and APIs to prevent potential security breaches.
  • Implement and enforce application and API security standards, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support Security Operations Center (SOC) in detection, response, and incident management related to applications and APIs.
  • Support the security of AI-enabled applications, large language models, and AI services by identifying risks, recommending controls, and implementing security best practices for AI systems.
