Cyber Security Specialist

Job Responsibilities

  • Aid in the creation, implementation, and upkeep of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with NIST and CMMC standards.
  • Conduct routine security evaluations, audits, and vulnerability tests to detect and address potential risks.
  • Watch for and address cyber security incidents and breaches, offering prompt and effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the secure operation and integration of information systems.
  • Carry out tasks akin to those of an Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) or Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), including overseeing security aspects of information systems and keeping security documentation updated.
  • Conduct risk assessments and annual tabletop exercises to enhance security measures and incident response plans.
  • Offer guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices and protocols.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends in cybersecurity.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on security findings, incidents, and compliance status to management.
  • Support the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Proficiency in cyber security assessment tools and methodologies.
  • A strong understanding of network and system security, intrusion detection and prevention, and incident response.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about industry developments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security/Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity role.

Skills

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST and CMMC cybersecurity frameworks and standards.
