Cyber Security Engineer

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen and operate a broad range of security technologies across cloud, infrastructure, endpoints, networks, and applications in Columbus, Ohio. This role emphasizes hands‑on engineering work, from deploying controls and refining detections to resolving incidents and improving overall resilience. The focus is on day‑to‑day security operations and technical implementation rather than high‑level policy ownership.

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimize protective controls for web‑facing environments, including application‑layer defenses, traffic filtering, automated threat mitigation, and denial‑of‑service protection.
• Deploy and maintain security measures across cloud platforms, identity services, network architecture, storage environments, and centralized logging solutions.
• Operate security monitoring and response tooling by managing alerts, improving detection logic, building dashboards, and streamlining workflows through automation.
• Coordinate incident response activities, including investigation, containment, forensic review, root‑cause analysis, and remediation planning.
• Drive vulnerability reduction efforts by supporting scanning, penetration testing, attack‑path evaluation, and security improvements within application environments.
• Support secure access initiatives through administration of Zero Trust technologies, firewalls, VPN platforms, segmentation controls, and hybrid infrastructure security.
• Strengthen identity and access management practices for collaboration platforms by enforcing appropriate permissions, access governance, and least‑privilege standards.
• Contribute to compliance, risk, and audit readiness efforts while helping promote security awareness and operational adherence to required controls.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands‑on experience in cybersecurity engineering with a strong focus on implementation, administration, and operational support.
• Practical knowledge of web and network security concepts such as application protection, secure traffic controls, bot mitigation, and DDoS defense.
• Experience securing cloud environments, including services related to compute, identity, networking, storage, and monitoring.
• Background working with security operations tools for detection, alerting, investigation, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Strong foundation in networking and operating systems, including Linux and Windows, with familiarity with Zero Trust principles.
• Ability to investigate security issues independently, prioritize technical risks, and drive issues through resolution.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
• Preferred exposure to platforms such as Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Google SecOps, Zscaler, or similar technologies, along with scripting or automation experience.
