Cyber Capabilities Developer
Location: Chantilly, VA | Security Clearance: Active Top Secret (TS) or higher, with willingness and ability to obtain a CI polygraph | Job Type: Full‑Time | Target Salary Range: $130,000 – $160,000
Position Overview
Amatriot is seeking a Cyber Capabilities Developer to support Rapid Application Development for offensive and defensive cybersecurity tools, network topologies, and secured networks. This role leverages red‑team and blue‑team operational expertise to advance mission objectives through focused development efforts in software engineering and network analysis. Support activities span both user and kernel levels, including configuration and management of complex network environments, administration of covert and virtualized systems, vulnerability research and analysis, and utilization of open‑source penetration testing tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Support rapid application development for offensive and defensive cybersecurity tools.
- Rapidly develop and prototype tools for Windows and Linux endpoints using modern programming practices and languages such as C, C++, .NET, and Python.
- Identify vulnerabilities in network, host, and web‑application endpoints through open‑source research and manual analysis; perform vulnerability research and analysis.
- Apply expertise in persistence mechanisms on endpoints, supporting activities at both user and kernel levels.
- Develop and analyze network topologies and secured networks; configure and manage complex network environments.
- Administer covert and virtualized systems; create, manage, and deploy virtual environments using VMware, Proxmox, KVM/qemu, or similar tools.
- Support VPN, proxy, and tunnel management and configuration.
- Apply knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) in support of mission objectives.
- Leverage red‑team and blue‑team operational expertise to advance mission objectives; think independently and take initiative on new tasks.
Qualifications
- Junior Level: BS/BA with 2+ years of relevant experience, or 6 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Mid Level: BS/BA with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Senior Level: BS/BA with 10+ years of relevant experience, or 14 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Advanced certifications, specialized training, or equivalent hands‑on experience may be considered in lieu of years of experience.
Skills
- Ability to identify vulnerabilities in network, host, and web‑application endpoints using a variety of open‑source and manual techniques.
- Proficiency in rapidly developing and prototyping tools for Windows and Linux endpoints.
- Expertise in persistence mechanisms on endpoints.
- Experience creating, managing, and deploying virtual environments (VMware, Proxmox, KVM/qemu, etc.).
- Strong understanding of networking, network topologies, and internet routing.
- Experience with VPN, proxy, and tunnel management and configuration.
- Software engineering experience using modern practices and languages (C, C++, .NET, Python).
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
- Ability to think independently and take initiative on new tasks.
