OTHRFull-time

Project Description

Cyanobacterial photobiotransformations are an attractive reaction system for sustainable biocatalysis. The focus of the project lies in the establishment of light-driven biocatalytic reactions and the combination of cell-engineering, systems biology and bioreactor engineering to increase the productivity of these reactions. The project combines molecular cell engineering and bioprocess engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research on enzyme engineering, whole-cell biocatalysis, and photobiocatalysis
  • Documentation of scientific results and presentations in the form of reports, specialist publications, and conference contributions
  • Responsibilities, Duties and Opportunities as a Project Staff Member in the Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering

Embedding in the CoE Circular Bioengineering

The project is embedded in the Cluster of Excellence Circular Bioengineering Program 3 "Biocatalytic Processes for Sustainable Synthesis", and has strong links to research groups working on enzymatic synthesis within Program 3.

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular Biosciences, or related disciplines
  • Outstanding academic record
