About the role
The role involves coordinating clinical education and professional development activities to maintain consistent standards of practice and competencies in patient care. It also includes supporting unit leadership team with effective leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Responsibilities
- Conducts initial and ongoing rounds throughout the day to ensure cases proceed as planned.
- Reviews OR schedules and expedites first case on-time starts and room turnover.
- Updates surgeon preference cards and instrumentation trays.
- Partners with SPD, Supply Chain Operations, nursing departments, and physician offices to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Maintains vendor coordination and monitors for expired products, revising custom packs, and performing value analysis functions.
- Facilitates the nursing unit’s education plan for orientation, staff development, continuing education, competency validation, patient education, and academic experiences.
- Monitors inventory levels and adjusts PAR levels, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with managers to develop unit standards, policies, procedures, protocols, documentation, forms, and performance monitoring tools.
- Supports department compliance initiatives and contributes to the hospital’s goals.
- Works independently to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing with two (2) years in area of practice OR Associate's degree in Nursing with four (4) years in area of practice.
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
