Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Examines, classifies, and appraises imported merchandise according to federal revenue laws to enforce regulations of U.S. Customs Service.
- Examines and appraises merchandise and accompanying documentation according to import requirements, considering legal restrictions, country of origin, import quotas, and current market values.
- Determines duty and taxes to be paid on imported merchandise, considering its classification and value.
- Track and inspect goods, if necessary, coming into Streamlight from any land border crossing, seaport or airport.
- Audit entry summaries (7501s) and submit requests to Freight Forwarders for Entry Amendments and Post Summary Corrections (PSCs).
- Review Freight Forwarders’ invoices and submit payment approvals to accounting.
- Verify refund checks and additional bills received from CBP for Accounting.
- Identify parts subject to certain trade acts and executive orders (Section 301, Section 232, IEEPA, etc.).
- Maintain discipline by constantly updating knowledge, both in commodities and in changing U.S. import laws and regulations by attending webinars/seminars and training sessions.
- Work side by side with customs, freight forwarders and legal professionals.
- Request verification of metal content and weights for parts subject to Section 232 from Engineering.
- Request verification of metal origin for parts subject to Section 232 from Suppliers.
- Prepare evidence for substantiation requests by CBP (PSCs, CF-28s).
- Prepare entry summaries for Protests via Attorneys.
- Provide ongoing updates and reports for upper management on Global Trade & Transportation.
- Clock in and out shipments from the Eagleville warehouse.
- Clock in and out shipments and withdrawals from the Bonded Warehouse.
- Assist with the return of goods from the Falcon Warehouse.
- Manage Streamlight’s ACE Portal activity and access as the Top Account Owner including monitoring ACH account data & IEEPA refunds.
- Ensure CTPAT compliance within our operations and supply chain.
- Assist Buyers with air freight cost calculations, tariff calculations and tariff cost analysis.
- Maintain and update several Smartsheets for Purchasing and Receiving and Material Handling.
- Receive Purchase Orders to process into Material Transfer Orders.
- Assist with customs clearance on shipments not consigned correctly.
- Facilitate payments to Freight Forwarders for shipments not consigned correctly.
- Stay current with CBP updates sent via the Cargo Systems Messaging Service (CSMS).
- Follow the White House updates regarding Trade.
- Review and understand the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
- Study for the Customs Broker License Examination (CBLE).
- Update 5-digit part numbers in ROI for Product Management.
- Update part numbers in ROI for Accounting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, International Business, Logistics, or related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of international import freight forwarding experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of Customs Import operations and regulations experience preferred.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
