Customs Entry Writer

Position Overview

As a customs entry writer, your primary responsibilities are to review import and export documents, ensure that all customs invoices and shipment papers are present, and prepare paperwork for clearance. You will use specialized software to file entry, sign brokerage documents, organize customs rejections, answer client customs questions, complete clerical duties, and monitor the processing for goods going through customs.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Utilize benchmarks to procure transportation services at competitive rates.
• May be required to be on call and work as part of a Saturday rotation.
• Perform other related job duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Certification in customs brokerage preferred.
• Competency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
• Analyst certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and function independently, within authorized limits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in Customs brokerage, Freight Forwarding, supply chain, or logistics operations.
• Experience with specialized customs software.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and international trade laws.

Work Environment

This is a sedentary role requiring the physical ability to: sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk while working on a computer, use hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and telephone, speak and hear clearly in person, virtually, and over the phone, occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or lift up to 10 pounds. The work environment is typically quiet to moderate in noise level and is climate controlled.
