Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain full compliance with US Customs Brokerage Regulations for Section 321 and Type 86 Compliance in Air and Ocean
  • Monitor and ensure team performance aligns with SEKO's compliance policy and department goals
  • Provide clear instructions to team for timely and orderly file flow, including release, billing, and auditing
  • Monitor problem files and implement corrective actions as needed in conjunction with bonded CFS
  • Stay updated on all business and legislative changes related to Section 321
  • Perform routine check-ins and ensure system compliance and compatibility
  • Manage the brokerage department staff, including performance management, career development, and disciplinary action
  • Aid in training direct reports on import procedures
  • Monitor entry numbers and verify digits
  • Uphold SEKO's Core Values and comply with SEKO's C-TPAT Security Profile
  • Participate in developing a safe and healthy workplace
  • Comply with safety and health instructions and adhere to safe work procedures
  • Cooperate with management in fulfilling legislative obligations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Knowledge in US Customs and International trade, with a basic understanding of customs valuation, classification, compliance/audit, and trade programs
  • Knowledge in USMCA, classification, value, marking, customs audits, compliance & opportunity reviews, first sale, disclosures, etc.
  • Client service orientation, initiative, and responsiveness
  • Team-oriented and comfortable in leadership or team leader roles

Education & Experience

  • Complete working knowledge of all US Customs Compliance Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of related trade legislation, rules, and regulations
  • Experience in implementing compliance processes
  • Experience with Cargowise1 preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some working knowledge of Foreign Trade Zones, bonded warehouses, in-bond procedures
  • Leadership and supervisory experience

Compensation And Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary based on factors such as location, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance, and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000
