About the role

As a Customs Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, you will optimize logistics to keep global supply chains running smoothly. Your expertise ensures timely and accurate customs clearance, making both special and ordinary moments possible for people worldwide. You will provide outstanding customer service by completing customs entry transactions and supporting the Customs Brokerage Department.

You will assist in preparing all documents necessary to clear merchandise through U.S. Customs & Border Protection and Participating Governmental Agencies (PGAs) such as FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, and Fish and Wildlife.

Responsibilities

  • Process shipments within department guidelines according to NBSC Customer list/Controlling branch instructions.
  • Input data accurately and timely to facilitate shipments through U.S. Customs and PGAs.
  • Classify goods according to customer SOPs and/or instructions.
  • Check CargoWise “buckets” daily to ensure all steps in entry/brokerage processes are followed.
  • Review and assess documents for accuracy, verifying critical data elements for entry processing.
  • Scan and archive entry document images; communicate discrepancies to supervisors or controlling branches.
  • Request or compile necessary import documentation from clients.
  • Complete all PGA data interfaces (e.g., FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, Fish & Wildlife) accurately and communicate entry status to carriers.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED certificate is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in Customs Clearance for Road and Railways transportation.
  • Working knowledge of CargoWise.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international geography, including countries and major cities.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Laws, INCO terms, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Customs regulations, and other government agency requirements.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is between $22.00 and $28.85. Individual pay may vary based on experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
