Customer Support Specialist for Retail Food Safety

Job Responsibilities

Serving as the first line of contact for the public, consultants, and outside agencies regarding the Retail Food Safety program for telephone callers.
Assisting food establishments (restaurants, grocery stores, etc.) with registering their username and business through the online portal, including making payments and other site management duties.
Researching and providing information concerning food safety questions and issues.
Performing receptionist duties by answering the telephone and greeting visitors with an amicable and helpful attitude. This includes forwarding calls/concerns to the appropriate staff, agency, or industry partner.
Performing office/administrative duties; organizing, developing, and implementing procedures for recording, routing, and filing documentation.
Assisting with ordering supplies, collecting information from inspectors, and providing follow-up to our customers.
Assisting with the collection and creating receipts for funds/fees collected.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma with four years administrative experience in an office setting OR an associate degree and two years administrative experience.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food safety/restaurant experience.
  • Ability to operate independently.
  • Knowledge of food safety, data collection, tracking, recordkeeping, and analysis.
  • Ability to navigate and toggle between multiple, interfacing computing platforms.

Additional Comments

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must be able to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive oral and written reports.
Strong organizational skills are required.
Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Must be able to input and maintain large quantities of data.
Position is based on the campus of the Columbia State Farmers Market in West Columbia. (off Hwy 321).
This is not a remote position.
