Responsibilities
- Under supervision, reviews meter-related discrepancies ("exceptions") identified as a result of field activities assigned to utility work crews against the meter reading, meter number, and meter configuration.
- Reviews and completes daily assigned meter reading, investigation, and repair requests.
- Monitors cut cable alerts in the Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system.
- Contacted by customers to schedule special appointments with repair workers as needed using the cut cable report, crossed meter requests, or other information obtained about areas surrounding the meter.
- Updates non-AMR meter information in the billing system as requested and approved.
- Provides backup coverage to Radio Dispatchers.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Two (2) years of full-time paid experience handling telephone and/or walk-in customers, with an emphasis on customer service in a high-volume office environment, is required.
- Experience working in a water utility, including tasks related to automated meter reading, is preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including fluency in English, are required; the ability to speak a second language is preferred.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Pay
$17.16 – $26.58 per hour.
