About the role

BCBST is looking for a dedicated Customer Service Representative to join our BlueCare Plus and BlueCare Customer Service departments. In this role, you will provide vital support to Medicare and Medicaid eligible members by assisting them with finding providers, resolving billing issues, obtaining prescriptions, and more. This position demands strong multitasking abilities, as you will need to type and talk simultaneously to document important information.

Our ideal candidate brings at least one year of experience in customer service, particularly within a medical office setting or working with the senior population. You will excel in this role if you can work independently, demonstrate patience, and possess strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Preference for candidates that live in TN or the surrounding area.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, investigate, and resolve all customer inquiries timely and accurately.
  • Handle customer service inquiries and problems via telephone.
  • Ensure all customer communication is clearly documented.
  • Interact through various channels such as Chat, Phone, Email, and TEAMS.
  • Educate callers to ensure resolution is achieved on first contact.
  • Must be able to pass required testing.
  • Participation and attendance are mandatory.
  • This position requires flexibility due to rotations in schedules and requires adherence to assigned schedules.
  • Work overtime as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service support role is required.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to talk and type simultaneously in a clear and concise manner while interacting with customers.

Schedule

The start date for this class is September 28, 2026. The training will last approximately 20 weeks. The working hours for the training period are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm EST.

After training concludes, work hours are in a weekly rotating shift where you could be scheduled to work as early as 8:00 AM EST or as late as 9:00 PM EST.

Our enrollment season runs from October through March. During this time, we are open on weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST, as well as on select holidays, including the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
