Customer Service Specialist Part-Time

About the role

Ferrellgas is hiring a Part‑Time Customer Service Specialist to provide exceptional service through inbound and outbound communications. You will support customers, work closely with internal teams, and help drive business growth while ensuring a high‑quality experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, chat, social media, or email in a polite, courteous, and professional manner.
• Work with customers daily to sustain and improve business relationships.
• Ask probing questions to identify customer issues or concerns.
• Ensure accurate account maintenance and update account information.
• Use techniques to reach resolutions that satisfy requests and reduce follow‑up questions.
• Schedule delivery orders and utilize basic negotiation skills for new and returning customers.
• Handle general customer issues such as service order input, executing emergency scripts, closing uncontrollable loss accounts, answering contract information, and basic pricing questions.
• De‑escalate customer situations by following the customer complaint resolution policy.
• Send statements and invoices to customers, perform soft collections for credit‑hold or past‑due accounts, handle cash and take payments via phone.
• Support the set‑up of new customer accounts.
• Meet or exceed minimum performance standards outlined in company policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 + year of customer service experience.
• Exceptional customer service and negotiation skills.
• Strong organizational skills with typing and data entry experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build positive rapport with employees at all levels and with customers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Pay

Pay starting at $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
