About the role
Provides administrative and technical support at a public health clinic. Assists clients on the phone and in person, determines eligibility for services, assesses client needs, and provides appropriate education and referrals.
Responsibilities
- Serves clients, customers, and staff on the telephone and/or in person.
- Administers and supports administrative tasks.
- Determines eligibility for services according to state and federal regulations.
- Affirmatively assesses client needs and provides appropriate education and referrals.
- Creates an inviting environment for clients by providing excellent, cheerful service.
- Assists clients on the phone and face-to-face by making appointments, triaging messages appropriately, and providing accurate information on services provided.
- Think critically to create a functional front-office environment for clients and co-workers.
- Maintain client confidentiality and perform all duties in a manner consistent with HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Receive incoming phone calls; schedule appropriate appointments for services and distribute messages appropriately.
- Cover incoming phone calls; schedule appropriate appointments for services and distribute messages appropriately.
- Coordinate collection of data to ensure proper billing information is obtained as well as demographic information for download into respective software (such as iCare, CIIS).
- Collect, receive, and reconcile revenue.
- Public Health Clinic Utilize practice management software appropriately.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of practice management software and supporting software such as CIIS.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance payers and ability to process payments accordingly.
- Ensure accurate patient data entry demonstrated by maintaining less than five registration errors per month.
- Prepare clients: prepare necessary lab documentation; determine financial ability to pay for services by verifying and calculating income; communicate appropriate payment plan; review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform appropriate charting and documentation.
- Assure accuracy and completeness of client documentation and services rendered.
- May be required to provide translation or interpretation for Spanish speaking clients if bilingual; bilingual capabilities desired.
- Front line eyes and ears for fraud and identity theft. Immediately report suspected fraud or identity theft to the supervisor.
- Requires analytical thinking and problem solving to assist staff handle situations and questions as they present themselves.
- Oral and written communication must be clear and effective.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- More than 3 years experience OR Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
