Customer Service Representative - Patient Accounts
Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative role at Stony Brook CPMP Patient Accounts is located in East Setauket, NY. This role may be eligible for remote work, but is only available to New York State residents. The schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. The pay range is $23.00 - $28.74 per hour.
Job Duties & Essential Functions
- Review various EMRs to review notes, insurance and form folders to assist in resolving patient inquiries.
- Conduct insurance verification.
- Handle high volume of patient telephone calls.
- Provide customer service to patients.
- Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when dealing with patients.
- Document and take appropriate action for all telephone calls in billing system.
- Resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Required Education & Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of customer service/call center experience, or two years of medical billing related experience or graduation from a medical billing program.
- Excellent expressive and written communication skills.
- Highly organized.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Heavy telephone experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement and medical terminology.
- Experience with insurance websites.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
