Customer Service Representative

About the role

Part-time position with availability for both weekdays and weekends required.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner; greet customers on entry and thank them on exit.
• Offer assistance and recommendations to customers; operate cash register accurately and handle payments including cash, checks, and other tender types.
• Perform multi-function operations of fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, telecom transactions, and related equipment.
• Maintain store facility condition and equipment to Company and/or brand standards through cleaning and general housekeeping duties inside and out.
• Inspect facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order; report failures or maintenance/supply needs to the Store Manager.
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise; receive and verify vendor deliveries; maintain adequate stock, rotate stock properly, and place advertising and pricing signage.
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Keep accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; account for variances and notify the Store Manager of discrepancies.
• Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Report all incidents including injuries, theft, property damage, sanitation issues, or unsafe/unethical conduct to the Store Manager.
• Keep accurate records of shift and timekeeping paperwork; may take inventory of supplies and equipment; attend job-related meetings.
• Provide regular and predictable onsite attendance; perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to accurately operate a variety of equipment including cash registers, scanners, hot/cold beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools.
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time.
• Ability to communicate information clearly so others will understand.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide).

Physical Requirements

• Exposure to cold or warm temperature extremes; occasional work in walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors.
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
• Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift; eye-hand coordination required.
• Push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
• Reach overhead for objects; bend, twist at waist; stoop, kneel, squat, push, and pull.
• Stand and/or walk for an entire shift; may require climbing a ladder to store or retrieve materials or place/remove signs.
• Communicate orally; operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Work alone with minimum direction and periodic supervision; exposed to occasional noise.

Work Environment

• Approximately 95% of work performed indoors; may clean parking lots, gas pumps, and take out garbage.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in walk-in cooler and/or freezer.

Pay

Hiring range: $15.00 to $15.50 per hour.
