Customer Service Representative

Store location: 1540 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15228

About the Role

Full-time position with flexible shift availability, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Customer Satisfaction:
  • Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greet customers upon entry and thank them upon departure.
  • Assist customers and offer product recommendations.
  • Accurately ring up sales on the cash register, handling money, checks, and other payment types.
  • Operate fuel console, lottery machines, money order machine, and process telecom transactions.
  • Report to work on time and adhere to the dress and appearance code.
• Facility Condition:
  • Maintain store cleanliness inside and out, including basic upkeep and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order.
  • Notify Store Manager of equipment failures, maintenance needs, or supply shortages.
• Merchandising:
  • Complete build-to orders for purchasing merchandise.
  • Receive and verify vendor deliveries.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels throughout the store and in counter areas; rotate stock properly.
  • Place advertising and pricing signage inside and outside the facility, including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Sales Controls:
  • Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
  • Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and conducting shift audits.
• Financial Controls:
  • Maintain accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; account for variances.
  • Notify Store Manager of any sales, cash, or inventory discrepancies.
  • Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Security Controls:
  • Report incidents such as employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation/waste disposal to the Store Manager.
  • Report any unsafe, unlawful, or unethical conduct.
• Administrative:
  • Maintain accurate records of shift and timekeeping paperwork.
  • May take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Attend job-related meetings (may require irregular hours).
  • Provide regular and predictable onsite attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Retail sales experience preferred.
• Ability to accurately operate equipment such as cash registers, scanners, hot/cold beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts, including arriving on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in walk-in coolers/freezers and outdoors.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift, requiring eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
• Ability to reach overhead for objects.
• Ability to bend and twist at the waist.
• Ability to communicate orally.
• Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Ability to work alone.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
• May require climbing a ladder to store/retrieve materials or place/remove signs.

Work Environment

• Approximately 95% of work performed indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks such as cleaning parking lots, gas pumps, and taking out garbage.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in walk-in coolers/freezers.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

$14.00 per hour.
