Customer Service Representative

About the role

This part-time position is based at 32553 E Punkin Center Rd, Hermiston, Oregon 97838 and offers flexible shift availability including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, courteous, friendly, and attentive customer service; greet customers on entry and thank them on departure
• Assist customers by offering suggestions or recommendations and operate the cash register accurately for all sales, handling cash, checks, and other payment types
• Maintain store cleanliness and equipment by performing general housekeeping duties inside and out; clean and inspect facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order
• Notify the Store Manager of any equipment failure, maintenance needs, or supply shortages
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise; receive and verify vendor deliveries; maintain adequate stock and rotate merchandise properly
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside and outside the facility including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits
• Keep accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; account for variances and notify the Store Manager of any discrepancies
• Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage
• Report all incidents including employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation or waste disposal to the Store Manager
• Keep accurate records of all shift and timekeeping paperwork; may take inventory of supplies and equipment
• Attend job-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in retail sales preferred
• Ability to accurately operate a variety of equipment including cash registers or scanners, hot or cold beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly to others
• Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in cold or warm temperature extremes and occasionally work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels)
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., to replenish fountain syrups)
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift; requires eye-hand coordination
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., utilizing a hand-truck)
• Ability to reach overhead for objects; bend and twist at the waist; stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull
• Ability to communicate orally and operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard
• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift; may require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs
• Ability to work alone and be exposed to occasional noise

Work Environment

• Perform approximately 95% of all work indoors; may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, and take out garbage
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer
• Exposure to occasional noise
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision
