Customer Service Representative

About the role

Part-time position with flexible shift availability including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner; greet customers and thank them upon departure.
• Assist customers by offering suggestions or recommendations and handle all sales transactions accurately on the cash register.
• Maintain store facility condition and equipment by performing general housekeeping duties, cleaning inside and out, and inspecting for safety and proper working order.
• Notify Store Manager of any equipment failure, maintenance needs, or supply shortages.
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise, receive and verify vendor deliveries, maintain adequate stock, and rotate stock properly.
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Keep accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; account for variances and notify Store Manager of discrepancies.
• Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Report all incidents including employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation to the Store Manager.
• Keep accurate records of shift and timekeeping paperwork; may take inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Attend job-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to accurately operate a variety of equipment including cash registers, scanners, hot or cold beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools.
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly to others.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in walk-in coolers/freezers and outdoors.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift; requires eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., using a hand-truck).
• Ability to reach overhead, bend, twist at the waist, stoop, kneel, squat, and pull.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift; may require climbing a ladder to store or retrieve materials.
• Exposure to occasional noise and working alone.

Work Environment

• Approximately 95% of work performed indoors; may include cleaning parking lots, gas pumps, and taking out garbage.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in walk-in coolers and/or freezers.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
