Customer Service Representative

About the role

Part-time position with availability for both weekday and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner; greet customers on entry and thank them on departure.
• Assist customers by offering suggestions or recommendations and operate the cash register accurately, handling cash, checks, and other payment types.
• Maintain store facility condition and equipment to Company and/or brand standards through cleaning and general housekeeping duties; perform basic upkeep and cleaning of all store equipment.
• Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order; notify Store Manager of any equipment failure or maintenance/supply needs.
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise; receive and verify vendor deliveries; maintain adequate stock throughout the store and rotate stock properly.
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility, including marquees, ceilings, walls, and windows.
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Keep accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; account for variances and notify the Store Manager of any discrepancies.
• Follow Company and/or brand guidelines for product breakage or spoilage.
• Report all incidents, including employee or customer injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation or waste disposal, to the Store Manager.
• Keep accurate records of all shift and timekeeping paperwork; may take inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Attend job-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to accurately operate a variety of equipment, including cash registers or scanners, hot or cold beverage dispensers, and other machines or tools.
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly to others.
• Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer and outdoors.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels).
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift; requires eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., utilizing a hand-truck).
• Ability to reach overhead for objects and bend and twist at the waist.
• Ability to communicate orally and operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Ability to work alone and be exposed to occasional noise.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift; may require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.

Work Environment

• Approximately 95% of work is performed indoors; may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, and take out garbage.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while performing occasional work in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.
