Customer Service Representative

About the role

Part-time position with flexible shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner; greet customers and thank them upon departure
• Assist customers by offering suggestions or recommendations and operate the cash register accurately
• Maintain store facility condition and equipment by performing general housekeeping duties inside and out; clean and inspect equipment for safety and proper working order
• Complete build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise; receive and verify vendor deliveries; maintain adequate stock and rotate merchandise properly
• Place advertising and pricing signage inside or outside the facility
• Control merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses; assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits
• Keep accurate cash, sales, and inventory control records; notify Store Manager of any discrepancies
• Report incidents including injuries, theft, property damage, or improper sanitation to the Store Manager
• Keep accurate shift and timekeeping paperwork; may take inventory of supplies and equipment
• Attend job-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in retail sales preferred
• Ability to accurately operate cash registers, scanners, dispensers, and other machines or tools
• Ability to work as scheduled and arrive to work on time
• Ability to communicate information clearly to others
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in walk-in cooler/freezer and outdoors
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for the entire shift
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds
• Ability to reach overhead, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, squat, and walk/stand for an entire shift
• Ability to communicate orally and operate a cash register or computer keyboard
• Ability to work alone and be exposed to occasional noise

Work Environment

• Approximately 95% of work performed indoors; may clean parking lots, gas pumps, and take out garbage
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures in walk-in cooler/freezer
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision
