Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service and satisfaction by ensuring phone, email, or fax orders are imputed accurately and timely.
- Responds to customer inquiries thoroughly and promptly.
- Supports the sales efforts of the outside sales group.
- Answers and directs phone calls courteously.
- Communicates food safety and product concerns to the appropriate groups.
- Receives telephone customer requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations.
- Retrieves customer information, stock status information, and the status of purchase orders using AS400/EView.
- Follows up on inquiries by checking computer runs on systems for delivery information.
- Makes price quotations by phone on price/order book items.
- Maintains systems file of active orders and posts activity such as change notices, scheduling changes, and partial shipments.
- Provides expert consulting on produce commodities and stays current on all products/produce on hand (in stock) and on order.
- Notifies and assists salespersons by communicating customer's needs and preferences.
- Maintains effective, professional relationships with customers and fellow employees.
- Provides support and assistance for outside salespersons.
- Participates in special projects deemed necessary to the operation and well-being of the company.
- Keeps a current call schedule including times, names, and phone numbers.
- Submits all orders before scheduled cut-off times.
- Must be punctual and have excellent attendance and communicate all breaks to supervisor to ensure phone coverage.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal human relations and teaming skills.
- Quick and accurate with figures, attentive to detail, and good follow-through. Ability to receive orders audibly and simultaneously input accurately into order entry system.
- Excellent phone and PC skills, including Windows Office suite. Outlook/Explorer a plus.
- Flexible and able to deal with a variety of details simultaneously.
- Proven conflict resolution, problem-solving skills.
- Skilled in time management and capable of meeting work schedule deadlines.
- Reliable; consistently at work and on time.
- Observes and follows proper safety procedures and willing to report potentially unsafe conditions.
- Prefer both retail and wholesale produce experience.
- Prefer high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of experience.
