Responsibilities

  • Operate all store equipment.
  • Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
  • Prepare product and assist with dining room service when needed (e.g., readying customer orders).
  • Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
  • Clean equipment and facility daily, including sanitizing the kitchen area and removing garbage.
  • Set up and run dishwashing operations, keeping the dishwasher clean and free of debris.
  • Maintain temperature logs, sanitation equipment, and cleaning logs.
  • Ensure hand sinks are clean and stocked (e.g., replace paper towels, hand soap).

Skills & Requirements

  • Basic verbal, writing, and communication skills to comprehend and give instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (may use a calculator).
  • Motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers for rapid and precise movements.
  • Prepare food items as requested.

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to:
    • Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
    • In-store temperatures ranging from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F+ in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
    • Fumes from food odors and exposure to cornmeal dust.
    • Cramped quarters, including the walk-in cooler.
    • Hot surfaces/tools (oven temperatures up to 500°F or higher).
    • Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
  • Sensory Requirements:
    • Talking and hearing on the telephone.
    • Near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks.
    • Depth perception and ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
  • Temperament:
    • Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, and work under stress.
    • Meet strict quality control standards and deal with people.
    • Analyze and compile data, make judgments, and decisions.

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces. Work surfaces range from 36" to 48" in height.
  • Walking: Short distances for short durations.
  • Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
  • Lifting:
    • Bulk product deliveries (twice a week or more) include cases weighing up to 50 lbs with dimensions up to 3' x 1.5'.
    • Cases are lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
    • Carry large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz) and occasionally 30 lbs of pizza sauce.
    • Carry trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray, three at a time over short distances).
  • Pushing/Pulling: Move trays on dollies (force up to 7.5 lbs).
  • Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders for tasks like changing prices, washing walls, or performing maintenance.
  • Stooping/Bending:
    • Forward bending at the waist (e.g., pizza assembly station, front counter, stocking ingredients).
    • Duration: 30–45 seconds at a time, repeated continuously.
  • Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally to stock shelves or clean low areas.
  • Reaching: Continuously in all directions (up, down, forward) for tasks like turning on oven controls, changing prices, lifting objects, scooping ingredients, or answering phones.
  • Hand Tasks:
    • Eye-hand coordination is essential for continuous use of hands.
    • Frequent and forceful use of forearms and wrists (e.g., shaping pizza dough).
    • Manipulate tools like pizza peels, rolling cutters, and cardboard pizza boxes.
    • Grasp cans, phones, pizza cutters, peels, and boxes.
  • Machines/Tools/Equipment: May use pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutters, and pizza peels.
