Responsibilities
- Operate all store equipment.
- Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
- Prepare product, including shaping pizza dough and assembling orders.
- Receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
- Handle monetary transactions and make correct change.
- Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills for processing orders over the phone and in person.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to make correct monetary change.
- Motor coordination for rapid and precise movements, including handling pizza dough, tools, and equipment.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to:
- Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
- In-store temperatures ranging from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F or above in work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
- Fumes from food odors and exposure to cornmeal dust.
- Cramped quarters, including the walk-in cooler.
- Hot surfaces/tools (oven temperatures up to 500°F or higher).
- Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
- Sensory Requirements:
- Talking and hearing on the telephone.
- Near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks.
- Depth perception for tasks like handling pizza peels and ovens.
- Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
- Temperament:
- Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, and work alone or with others.
- Work under stress and meet strict quality control standards.
- Deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces. Work surfaces range from 36" to 48" in height.
- Walking: Short distances for short durations.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table in an office area.
- Lifting:
- Bulk product deliveries (twice a week or more) include cases weighing up to 50 pounds, with dimensions up to 3' x 1.5'.
- Cases are lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
- Large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz) are carried from workstations to storage shelves.
- Pizza sauce (30 lbs) is occasionally carried from storage to the front of the store.
- Trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray) are carried three at a time over short distances.
- Pushing/Pulling:
- Trays on dollies (stacked 24"–30" high) require up to 7.5 pounds of force to push or pull.
- Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders to change prices, wash walls, or perform maintenance.
- Stooping/Bending:
- Forward bending at the waist is required at the pizza assembly station (30–45 seconds at a time, repeated continuously).
- Bending is also required at the front counter and when stocking ingredients.
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally performed to stock shelves or clean low areas.
- Reaching:
- Continuous reaching in all directions (up, down, forward).
- Reaching above 72" to operate oven controls, change prices, or lift/lower objects.
- Reaching down to scoop cornmeal, wash dishes, or perform other tasks.
- Forward reaching to obtain ingredients, clean work surfaces, or answer phones.
- Hand Tasks:
- Eye-hand coordination is essential for tasks like shaping pizza dough, using tools, and handling equipment.
- Frequent and forceful use of forearms and wrists, including pinching (e.g., assembling pizza boxes).
- Ability to grasp cans, phones, pizza cutters, pizza peels, and pizza boxes.
- Tools and Equipment: May include pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutters, and pizza peels.
