Responsibilities
- Operate all store equipment.
- Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
- Prepare product, including shaping pizza dough and assembling pizzas.
- Receive and process telephone orders both over the phone and in person.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
- Handle monetary transactions, including making correct change.
- Enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Perform tasks requiring motor coordination, such as using a pizza peel and pizza cutter.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and co-workers.
- Basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (may use a calculator).
- Ability to make correct monetary change.
- Motor coordination for rapid and precise movements, including eye-hand coordination.
Skills
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills for order processing.
- Ability to work under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions (e.g., when performing outside tasks).
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with temperature fluctuations (36°F in cooler to 90°F+ in work areas).
- Ability to handle exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped quarters, and hot surfaces/tools (up to 500°F or higher).
- Sensory abilities: talking and hearing on the phone, near and mid-range vision, depth perception, and ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
- Temperament: ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, handle stress, meet quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position.
- Walking: Short distances for short durations on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table in an office area.
- Lifting: Unload bulk product deliveries (up to 50 pounds) using a hand truck and stack onto shelves up to 72" high.
- Carrying: Large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), pizza sauce (30 lbs), and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray, carried three at a time).
- Pushing/Pulling: Move trays on dollies (force up to 7.5 pounds).
- Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders for tasks like changing prices, washing walls, or performing maintenance.
- Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist (e.g., pizza assembly station, front counter, stocking ingredients).
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally to stock shelves or clean low areas.
- Reaching: Continuously in all directions (up, down, forward) for tasks like turning oven controls, changing prices, lifting objects, scooping ingredients, or cleaning.
- Hand Tasks: Continuous use of hands for shaping dough, using a pizza peel, rolling cutter, assembling boxes, and grasping various tools.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
- In-store temperatures range from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F+ in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
- Exposure to fumes from food odors and cornmeal dust.
- Cramped quarters, including the walk-in cooler.
- Hot surfaces and tools from ovens (up to 500°F or higher).
- Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
