Customer Service Clerk

About the role

As a Customer Service Clerk, you will provide high-quality customer service in accordance with company standards and policies. Your responsibilities will include operating electronic scanning cash registers, processing customer payments, honoring discounts and coupons, and assisting customers with Loyalty Program questions or sign-ups. You will also handle various transactions such as selling money orders, lotto tickets, wire transfers, processing returns, and selling gift cards.

Responsibilities

• Operate electronic scanning cash registers and process customer purchases
• Honor discounts and coupons
• Assist customers with Loyalty Program questions or sign-ups
• Bag customer items
• Operate machines to sell money orders, lotto tickets, and process wire transfers
• Process customer returns
• Sell gift cards and lotto tickets
• Maintain cleanliness of the Customer Service Desk and front area of the store
• Replace stock in display areas
• Adhere to the uniform and grooming policy

Requirements

• Prior customer service skills or related experience
• Ability to operate electronic scanning cash registers and machines for counting money, wire transfer processing, and lottery
• Ability to handle stressful and complex situations calmly and professionally
• Strong communication skills to understand and follow instructions and interact effectively with customers and team members
• Organizational skills to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
• Ability to work independently as well as within a large team
• Reliable and predictable attendance
• Compliance with workplace conduct standards
