About the role

As a Customer Service Representative, you will work as part of a supportive team to be the face of U-Haul's exceptional service, ensuring that customers get all the help they need on their journeys by inspecting and maintaining equipment, assisting customers, and using up-to-date technology to dispatch and return equipment. This position offers on-the-job education. We are seeking a dependable, professional, and courteous individual who learns quickly, manages time effectively, and can work independently. This is an active, hands-on position that requires physical work, good tool dexterity, and the ability to open and close the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and make phone calls efficiently and professionally, following company-approved procedures
  • Wash and clean trucks
  • Maintain a clean, organized facility and work area, particularly when CST staff are not present
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service
  • Open and close the facility as scheduled
  • Arrive on time, prepared to work, and available for scheduled holiday shifts
  • Assist customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services
  • Use smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
  • Move and hook up U-Haul trucks and trailers
  • Clean and inspect equipment on the lot including checking fluid levels
  • Answer questions and educate customers regarding products and services
  • Prepare rental invoices and accept equipment returned from rental
  • Install hitches and trailer wiring
  • Fill propane (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
  • Drive a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
  • Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong time-management skills and punctuality
  • Quick learner with good manual dexterity and tool-handling skills
  • Professional demeanor, courtesy, and a helpful attitude
  • Comfortable with physical work and maintaining a clean work environment
  • Reliable and capable of working independently when required

Pay

$20–$21 per hour

Schedule

Part-time, 16–21 hours per week, including holidays as needed

Work environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of remaining stationary, moving around indoors and outdoors, positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights and moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
