About the role
This position performs duties of a Customer Service Representative or a Teller, based upon Branch scheduling needs.
When acting as a Customer Service Representative, you are responsible for presenting yourself as a banking professional, identifying which products and services best serve each customer’s needs in a genuine manner. You must possess a strong knowledge of the bank’s consumer products and a basic knowledge of business deposit products.
When acting as a Teller, you interact with most bank customers, reflecting the bank’s core values to ensure a positive banking experience. You are responsible for accurately processing transactions, identifying customer needs, suggesting bank products and services, or referring customers to other bank personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional, courteous, and efficient service to all customers, making eye contact and using the customer’s name.
- Assists customers in opening accounts, explaining deposit products and services, updating customer information, answering questions, and resolving problems.
- Provides complete and accurate information regarding all consumer and business deposit products and services, including IRAs, HSAs, and Electronic Banking Services.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of and complies with all quality control policies and procedures.
- Functions as a liaison between the customer and other bank departments to address customer issues; refers customers to appropriate personnel.
- Ensures efficient and satisfactory implementation of customer services in keeping with bank policies and procedures.
- Maintains strong knowledge of the bank’s deposit products and services through experience, education, and training.
- Accurately processes all bank transactions, negotiates checks, and places holds within established limits.
- Balances cash drawer at the end of shift and reports discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Exhibits strong commitment to confidentiality and complies with federal and state banking regulations, as well as bank policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties or special assignments as required, assists branch staff as needed, and attends required meetings and training.
- Makes appropriate referrals to business partners and product suggestions based on customer needs.
- Adheres to all security procedures, effectively prioritizes work, and adapts to change.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required; college, business, or banking professional training helpful.
- Experience as a Teller, Customer Service Associate, or equivalent customer service experience beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to interact harmoniously and effectively with others.
- Operational competency using Microsoft Office suite and Windows-based applications.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and read/see documents and computer screens.
- Detail-oriented, good time management skills, and ability to plan and prioritize work in a changing environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and conforms to attendance standards; flexibility with varying schedules.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift one to ten pounds frequently, and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Extensive use of computers and office equipment requiring dexterity and coordination.
- Ability to travel to all bank locations preferred.
