About the Role
The Customer Development & Insights Analyst for Costco Global will develop strategic business opportunities and support ongoing operations for Costco. Reporting to the Costco Global Sales Sr. Director, this role provides insights on business trends, logistics/fulfillment support, and customer forecasting. You’ll own weekly Costco IRI data analysis, build executive summaries for internal and external stakeholders, and assist in customer presentations to drive sales and consumer penetration. The role also involves updating the forecast tool for Costco US and coordinating with the Customer Success team for logistics success.
Responsibilities
- Customer Level Insights Development (40% of Time):
- Develop customer-specific insights to build an understanding of Costco’s business.
- Provide insights and customize the national PNC category selling story.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HQ category, Sales Strategy, and Marketing on new item development.
- Manage the new item setup process, track introductions, and analyze performance.
- Provide weekly updates on Costco’s business to PNC leadership.
- Own the weekly Costco meeting to review weeks of supply (WOS) and inventory changes.
- Run weekly CRX/IRI reports and provide key insights to the Costco team.
- Maintain price-value audits for customer reporting and internal channel management.
- Conduct competitive analysis and report findings internally and externally.
- Engage Costco’s external partners to maintain and develop programs.
- Coordinate with the Customer Success Team to track shipments and communicate logistics opportunities.
- Attend Costco meetings to provide insights as needed.
- Strategic Planning (30% of Time):
- Assist the Costco team in building customer presentations.
- Leverage reports and Numerator data to extrapolate actionable insights.
- Maintain reporting on trends and gaps for Costco and internal stakeholders.
- Document competitive product entries and their impact on the category and brands.
- Participate in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process:
- Assist in pulling data and building SBU decks for International.
- Provide key customer insights to inform sales, production, and financial planning.
- Attend and participate in SBU meetings.
- Lead forecasting efforts to align with market conditions and customer sales strategies.
- Own updating the forecast tool (Blue Planner to Salesforce) for Costco US.
- Annual Plans Development and Implementation (20% of Time):
- Participate in annual plan development for the current year and 5-year horizon.
- Assist in the development of Joint Business Planning meetings.
- Ensure continuity for volume-driving activities across PNC systems.
- Administration (10% of Time):
- Update the forecast tool with new products and weekly volumes (cases & trade dollars).
- Ensure merchandising contracts are uploaded for audit compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date trade spending records.
- Support deduction management.
- Manage Costco new item setup, including item agreements, images, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of relevant sales experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
- Previous experience working on Costco projects or support.
- Experience with data analytics and systems (IRI).
- Proficient in reporting tools, Excel, and analytics.
- Financial impact analysis and ROI reporting experience.
- Effective short- and long-term forecasting capabilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.

Work Environment
This role is based remotely on the West Coast, with occasional travel to the Emeryville, California headquarters for team-building, planning meetings, and quarterly updates. The work involves:
- Significant computer work: reviewing data, creating reports, and communicating with partners.
- Frequent use of keyboard, mouse, phone, and other office technology.
- Navigating multiple systems, analyzing detailed information, and managing competing priorities.
- Regular communication via meetings, email (Outlook), messaging (Microsoft Teams), and presentations.
- Occasional movement around the office for meetings and collaboration.
- Occasional lifting or moving of office materials up to 10 pounds.
Pay
The expected pay scale for this role is:
- $85,000 to $95,000 if based in Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles (may vary based on experience, qualifications, geographic area, and internal equity).
- $75,000 to $85,000 if based in any other West Coast region (may vary based on experience, qualifications, geographic area, and internal equity).
