Customer Data Technician-CWA

Responsibilities
- Install, test, and accept circuit equipment including voice, TDM, optical IP Ethernet, and emerging technologies.
- Perform installation, repair, maintenance, and adjustment of multiplex equipment, fiber optics, and switches; conduct final acceptance testing with customers.
- Troubleshoot customer circuits, network components, and infrastructure from premises to frame, and complete final testing and customer acceptance of service.
- Use laptop computers to configure higher-level electronic systems and applications, and test/install individual services.
- Utilize various testing devices, including frequency and data signal generators, transmission measuring sets, volt-ohm-meters, software programs, laptop programs, and coordinate testing with others.
- Install computer interface cards in customer-owned equipment (laptops and desktops), successfully configure customer hardware and software, and install modems.
- Manage/assign hardware and/or software assets/requests/licenses, considering warranties and other information as necessary.
- Review, analyze, update, and interpret work orders, circuit diagrams, word documents, schematic drawings, engineering work prints, OSP maps, equipment drawings, company records, technical manuals, and other source documents.
- Verify critical dates, commitments, facility and equipment assignments, reasonableness of test results, and conformity of circuits to established tolerance criteria.
- Resolve customer issues and problems regarding designed services, ensuring service meets customer specifications.
- Perform pre-survey to determine availability of equipment and facilities, and pretest circuits to ensure conditioning requirements are met.
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously, discussing service and equipment, performing specified work, confirming/troubleshooting work orders, reviewing billing information, responding to questions, and identifying/researching additional revenue generation opportunities.
- Contact control and/or dispatch centers or other designated employees during tours for other assignments or jeopardy resolutions.
- Provide information needed to close out work orders or trouble reports, using computer or other devices to interface with company systems and complete daily workload.
- Work independently with minimal or no supervision, climb and work at elevations exceeding 18 feet, work in confined spaces, lift and move objects weighing over 75 pounds, and perform strenuous physical activities.
Requirements
Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays. Requires a valid state driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Must wear safety glasses, hard hats, appropriate safety clothing, and follow established safety practices and procedures. Must wear attire appropriate for effective customer interaction. May require pole climbing certification. May work outdoors in different weather conditions.
Qualifications
In Title Pass/Fail training may be required. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid state driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Must be able to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Must be able to climb and work at elevations exceeding 18 feet. Must be able to work in confined spaces and perform strenuous physical activities including lifting and moving objects weighing over 75 pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in different weather conditions.
Skills
Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technology, ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and proficiency with various testing devices and software programs.

Pay
Minimum hourly rate: $16.12
Maximum hourly rate: $44.48
Schedule
This is a full-time position located in Fargo, ND. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, with a Saturday rotation. May also include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
