Customer Account Specialist

We’re seeking a Customer Account Specialist to work at a premier manufacturing client in Johnston, IA.

About the role

You’ll perform credit and collection duties for large and moderately complex customer accounts, supporting delinquent customers while maintaining strong company, customer, and dealer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform credit and collection duties, including telephone collections, account authorization, and account management
• Collect past due accounts using available technology and collection strategies
• Negotiate payment plans with customers and evaluate financial statements to authorize credit within company guidelines
• Review account status and recommend and authorize additional sales to customers
• Assist with account resolutions for misapplied cash and refer problem accounts to supervisors
• Manage assigned accounts to maintain low levels of delinquency
• Support delinquent customers by identifying issues, educating, motivating, and taking action to resolve delinquent accounts while retaining customers
• Use telephone negotiating techniques to build and maintain relationships
• Review payment history and account information, update/confirm debtor information, and negotiate payment plan modifications
• Administer collection efforts within federal and state regulations and company policy

Requirements

• Recent college graduate or high school graduate with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
• Ability to thrive on solving problems and working in a global team environment
• Capacity to remain seated for long periods while performing telephone work in a call center environment
• Ability to quickly change focus on work activities
• Strong computer aptitude and ability to learn quickly, with familiarity in both mainframe and software applications
• Knowledge of negotiation techniques (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline is preferred
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. (Visa sponsorship is not available for this position)

Pay

$23.00/hour (1-year contract)

Schedule

7am to 6pm; must be able to work any 8-hour shift between these hours
