Custom Machine Builder

Build custom material-handling equipment, with a focus on assembly. Additional duties include fabrication, welding, painting, and general repair/maintenance of shop equipment. Adapt to new techniques as projects evolve.

Responsibilities

• Assemble machines from engineering prints with guidance
• Assemble equipment from fabricated parts, including weldments
• Assist throughout the shop as needed
• Learn new manufacturing areas
• Produce high-quality assemblies with low rejection rates
• Collaborate as a team player in the shop
• Maintain a positive attitude under pressure
• Show mutual respect for coworkers
• Adhere to daily attendance and punctuality standards
• Work overtime when required
• Follow safety protocols per Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
• Advocate and model Kaizen principles
• Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

• 1–4 years of assembly experience at Bastian Automation
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and produce finished products
• Relevant fabrication shop experience
• Positive attitude and ability to handle tense situations
• Team player who can take direction
• General knowledge of mechanical fasteners and their functions
• Proficiency in reading a tape measure and other calibrated measuring devices
• Knowledge of fluid power systems (pneumatics, hydraulics) and mechanical systems
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Eligibility to work in the USA long-term without sponsorship
• Commitment to information security policies, including protecting confidential data, completing required training, and reporting suspected security incidents
