Custodian - Waianae

About the role

Hawaiian Building Maintenance, a leading facility service provider in the State of Hawaii since 1957, is seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented individual to clean and maintain a commercial location on Oahu (Waianae, HI). While previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Clean common areas throughout the facility, including sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing, and vacuuming
• Empty trash and recycling into designated bins, including replacing trash bag liners
• Wipe down surfaces and clean up spills
• Push trash bins
• Maintain grounds, including pool area, laundry, gym space, sauna, office, lobby, restrooms, and full bathrooms with showers
• Restock supplies as needed
• Operate a leaf blower machine and buffer-scrubber machine in high-traffic areas
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
• Report any maintenance issues
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies

Requirements

• Must pass HBM prescreen check
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Previous custodian, housekeeping, or related experience is preferred (willing to train)
• Strong communication skills with proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Good public relations skills
• Ability to perform basic manual labor, including frequently lifting, pushing, pressing, pulling, or carrying a minimum of 30 lbs (up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairways, use elevators, and use a ladder
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (40 hours per week)

Pay

Hourly rate: $16.00 to $17.00 per hour
