Custodian - Substitute (Multiple Vacancies)

About the role

The Upper Moreland Township School District is an educational institution working in partnership with the community to provide all students with educational opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, behaviors, and habits of mind necessary for excellence and success as critical thinkers, as caring and confident individuals, and as contributing members of society. This role maintains the safety and cleanliness of the assigned facility and performs light maintenance as directed.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of assigned bathroom areas as well as replenishment of supplies including, but not limited to, soap dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, and paper towel dispensers.
• Cleans and maintains assigned areas including, but not limited to, emptying trash, dusting, sweeping, mop/wet mopping, and washing surfaces on a daily basis.
• Utilizes power equipment including, but not limited to, scrubbers and waxing equipment to provide heavier cleaning assistance.
• Secures facility as assigned.
• Performs light painting as assigned.
• Provides set-up assistance including chairs, tables, etc.
• Shovels/salts walking surfaces surrounding the facility as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness of the outside area surrounding the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of prior work experience as a custodian.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Ability to work in extreme (hot and cold) weather conditions.
• Ability to report to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl for a period of 8 hours per day.
• Ability to work independently and maintain security of the building.
• Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements.
• Must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
