Custodian (Night and Weekend Availability Required)

The How
As a Custodian you are passionate about cleanliness. You are an experienced cleaning professional who understands that clean spaces are a component of good customer service. You are self-driven, reliable, and up for the physical challenge of custodial work. You enjoy being part of a community and having friendly and positive customer interactions. As a Mesa Rim Custodian, you have high standards and take pride and ownership in the facility.
The What
- Responsible for the cleanliness and presentation of Mesa Rim facilities.
- Clean bathrooms and locker rooms (toilets, showers, tile floors, mirrors, walls, etc.).
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and deep clean floors (carpet, concrete, rubber and vinyl climbing floors, etc.).
- Clean counters, rails, stairs, desks and other non-climbing surfaces.
- Clean windows.
- Collect and dispose of garbage.
- Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.
- Ensure doors are locked and proper security procedures are followed.
- Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, restocking as needed and keeping custodial closet and storage areas tidy.
- Proactively communicate facility concerns and/or major repairs to supervisor.
- Support with larger projects such as painting, equipment assembly, etc. as needed.
- Complete tasks in timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Early morning hours are required; hours vary and minimums may be required according to the needs of business operations at each location.
Must-Haves
- At least 18 years of age.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Contributes to Mesa Rim Climbing Center culture.
- Previous professional cleaning experience.
- Clear communication and customer-service orientation.
- Ability to seek and accept, as well as give, critical feedback in a professional manner.
- A positive attitude and teamwork.
- Independent and creative problem-solving without direct supervision.
- High degree of initiative and follow-through.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable using a step ladder.
- Able to work safely with variety of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Basic computer skills.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with light-duty repairs, general hand tools, painting.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently lift, move, carry, and/or push 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift, move, carry and/or push 50 lbs.
- For any task that involves lifting and carrying anything over 55 lbs, the employee must seek assistance in carrying that weight in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Frequent exposure to loud noise, airborne particles, dry conditions (non-weather), falling objects, trip hazards, risk of moving mechanical parts, mechanical burn and bodily fluid.
- Required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment when working on applicable tasks (e.g. air filter mask when cleaning HVAC paper filters).
Pay Range
$15.75-$21.50/hour
