About the role
The Custodian III performs highly complex (senior-level) custodial work in state hospital buildings and treatment units. Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining buildings and equipment; providing housekeeping services in a clinical setting; and ensuring patient units meet cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
- Attends work on a regular basis and may work shifts as required.
- Maintains cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Restocks supplies and equipment.
- Cleans restrooms, office surfaces, treatment areas, and patient bedrooms.
- Ensures patient units meet cleanliness standards.
- Inspects buildings and identifies problem areas.
- Assists the Custodian Manager in safety and infection control programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned during disaster response or COOP activation.
Requirements
- One year of experience in custodial/housekeeping in a nursing home, hospital, or similar facility.
- Eighteen (18) months of proven work experience.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and patients.
- Ability to work irregular hours.

- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles.
- Skills in using custodial materials and equipment.
- Skills in operating building maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.

- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and patients.
- Ability to work irregular hours.

Pay
$2,962.92 - $3,547.58 per month
Schedule
